Shopping at the garden nurseries in Portland this time of year is like walking through an explosion of color. Today we needed to get out of the house and walk around. If you need to walk around you might as well do it among color that stands out.
It all started with a discussion about getting a fuschia plant. Fred Meyer has a big promotion each year where they will plant a bleeding heart that you purchase in any pot you bring in or purchase and include the soil free. While I chose not to even try to go to a Fred Myer, they were completely packed, we did want to get outside.
We went to The Portland Nursery and the place was packed! This location, in the neighborhood, seems to always have a lot of people in it. This time even the parking lot was full.
As we walked around we saw dogwoods, azaleas, rhododendrons as well as statuary that stood out against the backdrop of the plants and flowers.
We got out of the nursery without spending too much. However, what we did purchase will provide a bit of color to our home and bring us joy.
