It is no longer the year 2020. It is now 2021.

I have read the writings and comments of many expressing their gratitude for getting through the year 2020. Family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances have told me in person how grateful they are to have made it through 2020. Most everyone I listen to or read the words they have written indicates a great relief for the year 2020 to be over and the anticipation that 2021 will be a far better and very different year. I am not so sure that will be the case.

There are many things that I am not sure about at this moment in time. Our future concerning the Covid virus and the vaccines that we have been told were developed to fight the virus. The direction of our nation as exhibited by the behavior of anti-American activists and the support of their behavior by some elected by the population they represent. The suppression of our individual freedoms due to, if you believe the politicians and media, the virus and bad actors. I am not sure of, no – I do not believe, much of what those in political authority, governmental positions, media personalities and technology oligarchs tell me to be true.

This is what I do know. God, the creator of all things, loves me.  I am not perfect and never will be. I can only change how I react to the circumstances presented to me. I can plan for the future and take actions to reach the destinations that I have identified, the places that I want to be, based on what I know today. I will not create resolutions for this new year. However, I will set goals for myself in the various domains of my life. I will measure, monitor and adjust for changes in circumstances in the hope that I can achieve those goals. I will watch and listen with a discernment that I pray is God given and guided. I will move forward praying for His will to be done on this earth as it is in heaven.

Here’s to 2021.
