Hunting and gathering. Pain. The virus attacked someone I work closely with. Beginning to vaccinate myself against the virus.

It is so frustrating to find one’s self knowing that you must still accomplish certain tasks while in pain and not feeling well at all. Then realizing the silent enemy that has so devastated our world has hit very close as you make a decision to take the first defensive medical stand against this enemy.

This past week, for the first time in over a month, I had to go to the grocery store. Fresh foods and some supplies were dwindling to a point that options for meals were becoming fewer. We know we need to eat raw and fresh foods for our health so going to the grocery store was a task I had to take on.

I have been fighting with this pain caused by an injury to my back. I can medicine up and feel better but then I push myself too far out of necessity and I feel worse. Going out to the grocery store felt good initially as the motion of walking and being up and around felt like a new experience. However, the following day I felt the strain I had put on my back and I returned to a place of needing medication and less movement to relieve the sharp pains.

Since this Covid pandemic began I have been diligent in my actions to avoid exposure. I have had people I know very well and some I work with be attacked by the virus. This week I learned that someone I work closely with has tested positive. He is definitely feeling the effects of the virus and my concern for him is almost off the charts while my concern for the others that we work with has become intensified. This news and the details of his fight have come as I prepared for and obtained my first vaccination to fight this Covid virus. By the end of the week he reported feeling better. A few days after my first vaccination I can report I did well with hardly any side effects.

The current state of the world due to the Covid virus, the actions of those in political power and the actions of those around me definitely weighs heavy on my reality. While I am not suffering physically from the effects of the Covid virus I am suffering physically from my own back injury. Then of course I am dealing with some of the consequences of the Covid pandemic as it relates to our every day lives.
